At the test centre
- The test is taken on a computer at a registered centre
- Available in English, Welsh, or Scottish Gaelic
- Headphones available if needed
- Results given immediately after finishing
- If you pass, you receive a pass certificate — keep it safe for your citizenship application
Tips to pass
- Read each question carefully — some options look very similar
- Flag uncertain questions and come back to them
- Don't linger — move on if stuck, return if time allows
- Trust your preparation — if you've done the mock tests, you're ready
- Stay calm — 45 minutes is plenty for 24 questions
Note: If you're not familiar with computers, request a short practice session before the test starts — just ask the invigilator.
If you don't pass
You can retake as soon as you feel ready — no waiting period. The £50 fee applies again each time. No limit on attempts.
After you pass
- You'll receive a pass certificate with a unique reference number
- Keep it — you'll need it for your citizenship or settlement application
- The certificate does not expire
