Before you take the test

Everything you need to know to book and prepare for your Life in the UK Test.

How to book

You can only book online through the official website:

  • Visit www.lifeintheuktest.gov.uk
  • Create an account or log in
  • Select your preferred test centre and date
  • Pay the £50 test fee by debit or credit card
What to bring

You must bring all of the following — without them, you won't be admitted:

  • Valid photo ID — Passport (any nationality) or UK driving licence
  • Proof of address — Bank statement, utility bill, or tenancy agreement (dated within the last 3 months)
  • Booking confirmation email — Print it or show it on your phone
Arrival time

Arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled test time. Late arrivals may not be admitted and you will lose your fee.

Allow extra time for travel, parking, and finding the centre.
Test centres

There are over 60 registered test centres across the UK, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Belfast. Choose your nearest when booking.
